Winter weather is on the way

A word of warning for all drivers come first thing Thursday morning: slow down cause mother nature is due to unload a nasty combo of snow and heavy wind gusts. The heaviest travel time tends to be from 4:30 AM to 9:00 AM, with the peak between 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Although only 2 to 3 inches is predicted from this weather system, it does not take a lot of snow to create big problems. Keep in mind just last January there was a jackknifed tractor-trailer that snarled eastbound traffic at Lilac during a snow event, which is less than two miles from the river bridge.

Last weekend nice weather made it the perfect situation to take photos of the construction going on at Route 3.  All the new ramps are open to traffic, and now been posted online on the Flickr stream for everyone to view.  A short video of the lane shift on the eastbound lanes has been filmed as well but it may be a few days before that is uploaded.

Update: 21:09 – for the second Monday in the past 4 weeks, a incident marred westbound traffic on the river bridge.  I was at work when it happened and was unable to save photo stills as a result, but some of the twitter users have confirmed such an incident during the morning peak period:
