Icy, dicey commute on tap for Thursday

Posted: 2013/02/20 in Weather

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow for a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain that will impact the evening peak and maybe the morning peak depending on when the storm arrives.  Winter weather tends to be anything goes and the forecast models are not 100% accurate, which means people need to take precautions.  Regardless of what type of winter precipitation falls tomorrow, the roads will get very dicey for a few hours.  A dangerous enough section of 270 under normal circumstances becomes a nightmare when winter weather hits hard, as evidenced earlier this month.  Please slow down and take it easy when the weather takes a turn for the worst.

Most of the local TV media will be keeping close track on the weather tomorrow.  Online road conditions are available for Missouri and Illinois, and the police scanner can be a very important tool in road conditions as well (not all areas have online live feeds).
