Cop chase concludes at Riverview, again

Posted: 2013/04/28 in accident

For the second time this year, there was another police chase that ended at the 270/Riverview area with a crash.  This crash did not block any mainline lanes but closed the entrance ramp from Riverview to eastbound 270. (In fact there were no tweets from @StLouisTraffic relating to the crash, and MoDOT did not change the angle on the live feed camera at Riverview.)  However, this incident made the Saturday evening news on one television station, Sunday morning news of a second, and mentioned by a third.

Sadly, that incident was not the only incident of the day.  Late that evening there was another serious incident on 270 in North County that affected eastbound traffic.

Upgrade: 2 VEHICLE COLLISION I-270 EB @ AT NEW HALLS FERRY RD USE ALT ROUTE (St Louis,MO)\

This one takes three hours to clear and according to people posting on the KSDK Facebook feed, may had involved an fatality that was later confirmed by Missouri Highway Patrol.  There is nothing posted by the local news stations regarding this but someone posted a photo of the traffic backup.  (Second image just for good measure.)  UPDATE 4/28/13 at 12:13 – The Post-Dispatch released an article regarding this accident that happened just west of the corridor.
