Friday the 13th storm to bring in a mixed bag of winter weather.

Posted: 2013/12/12 in Weather

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the I-270 Corridor from 06:00 Friday through 06:00 Saturday for a system that could bring in Freezing Rain, Sleet, and Slow.  There could be from 1 to 4 inches of snow out of this system, but that number is not the problem.  The threat of Freezing Rain will be the biggest problem, as just a small amount of that stuff has the potential of causing chain-reaction type incidents that can shut down the highway.  This section of 270 has never had a good history with freezing rain events – and the one moving in tomorrow will impact the evening peak.  Please slow down when this weather occurs, as the evening peak will be a very nasty commute regardless of what type of precipitation falls.

The editor will be at work tomorrow when this occurs and will not get off until 20:00, so essential Twitter/Facebook updates will only take place during break periods.  If you plan on monitoring Twitter for updates, please follow @SaraDKSDK, @RickWallace1120, @AngWxGirl, @y98lance, and @StLouisTraffic.
