Wrong way driver causes overnight crash on canal bridge

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, an wrong way driver went westbound in the eastbound lanes just west of the canal bridge, and nearly caused a head-on with another vehicle.  The injuries were minor, but the outcome could been worse:  

The scene is cleared before the morning peak but it drew the attention of the morning news photographers.

The evening peak was iffy as well, as severe weather developed on 5% odds set by the NWS – at the wrong time of the day. It was enough to cause an incident at 255 and it caused eastbound traffic to back up towards the river bridge. It was raining with a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for this area when this incident happened:
