Starting at 06:00 Wednesday and lasting to 15:00, the ramp from EB 270 to SB Route 3 will be closed to allow crews from Walsh Construction to place the shoulder on the new ramp.  This construction is expected to wrap up on Thursday.

Starting at 06:00 Thursday and lasting to 15:00, one eastbound 270 mainline lane will be closed from the canal bridge to Route 3, weather permitting.  The weather forecast for Thursday morning is not favorable, and its the type of winter precipitation and the timing of hitting the morning peak that will be a big factor:

Road crews are already out pretreating roads for this system. There is another system projected for this weekend, but right now there will be no talk about that one. Expect the Thursday morning peak to be a very dicey one.

Late this morning, information regarding the demolition of the big green metal canal bridges was leaked:

There will be a separate post about this when the actual dates are near, but the tentative dates are January 20 and February 4.  This phase of the canal bridge project will likely force all traffic through Alton for a few hours both dates, which are weather permitting and the times have not yet been disclosed.
